Jatin Khanna, rose to stardom as Rajesh Khanna, only to reign the Indian Hindi film industry for over a decade. He was known as the first superstar of Bollywood industry with an endless list of crazy fans, mostly being girls. His unique way of dialogue delivery and stylized acting continues to make him popular among mimicry artists.

Being an acting enthusiast, Khanna participated in the All India Skill Contest and won the same among more than ten thousand contestants. His on-screen performance in first film Aakhri Khat and subsequent film Raaz helped him win the All India United Producer’s Expertise Competition. His contract with the United Producers landed him in movies like Aurat, Baharon Ke Sapne and Aradhana. Movies like Bawarchi, Anand and Namak Haram saw Rajesh Khanna in totally different characters, portrayed convincingly. The on-screen chemistry between him and Mumtaz worked really well. This favorite pair acted in 8 successful movies. He also gelled well with Sharmila Tagore and they gave some of the most memorable and successful films. He was paired with almost all the exclusive actresses of the era such as Tina Munim, Shabana Azmi, Poonam Dhillon, Asha Parekh and Hema Malini. He was also known to be very friendly with his associates and colleagues.

He married the actress Dimple Kapadia, who along with his close friends, called him Kaka. Such was his charisma that people almost mobbed him when he appeared in public. Crazy female fans even kissed his car, got married to his photo and even sent him letters written in blood. An article about him titled ‘The Charisma Of Rajesh Khanna’ was included in the textbook of Bombay University. He had created such an effect on his followers. His record of 15 continuous hits between ’69 and ’72 remains unbroken even today.

Rajesh Khanna rose to success again after a downfall, with films like Agar Tum Na Hote, Avtaar and Hum Dono, being some of them. He discontinued acting when he served the position of MP for the New Delhi constituency. He later came back with movies such as Aa Ab Laut Chalen and Kyaa Dil Ne Kaha. After 2000 he has not appeared in films often but his followers can seen him in some of the TV serials.
